Our 2017-18 season opened with our 9th annual Membership Tip-Off meeting on Wednesday, November 1. In addition to meeting the players, hearing from the Coach, watching practice, this season's attendees were among the first to get a first hand tour of the Breslin Students Events Center renovations including the new "Tom Izzo" Hall of History. This year we will again have six luncheons throughout the season and may add another exciting new event. In addition, we will help with the annual Food Drive chaired by Lupe Izzo and intend to again co-sponsor Pep Rallies at Post Season Tournaments.
Other than the December 7th Luncheon which was held at Hawk Hollow, all of the other Luncheons this season are at Eagle Eye Golf Club on Chandler Road in Bath. Doors open at 10:45 am, and the program starts at 11:50 am and lasts to 1:00 pm. In addition to Coach Izzo or one of our assistant coaches, each luncheon features a guest speaker. Luncheons are open to both members and the general public, particularly if you bleed green. Memberships are always available at the door. No reservations are needed.
The Rebounders Club has arranged for an away game bus trip as the MSU Spartans take on the Northwestern Wildcats this coming Saturday, February 17, 2018. While Welsh-Ryan Arena is undergoing renovations, Northwestern is playing their home games at the Allstate Arena, formerly the Rosemont Center, in Rosemont IL. This trip is SOLD-OUT.
Our Senior Recognition Luncheon honoring our Senior Players (Ben Carter, "Tum Tum" Nairn Jr., and Gavin Schilling) and our Senior Managers will be held on Friday February 23rd. It will be a wonderful opportunity for our members and guests to hear from the leaders of one of the most exciting teams ever to put on a Spartan uniform. This luncheon is a highlight of every season and one not to miss.
The date for the 2018 MSU Men's Basketball Banquet honoring this season's incredible group of players and their accomplishments is scheduled for Sunday, March 11, 2018. This is also traditionally known in NCAA College Basketball world as "Selection Sunday". With the Big Ten Tournament being a week earlier than past year's this season the Banquet will be held following that tournament. Expectations are the team will be preparing for a deep run in the upcoming NCAA tournament and this event will allow fans to recognize the team's accomplishments and give them an enthusiastic send off. As always attendees will be greeted to one of the most emotional events of the season as the players receive their awards and recognition. Spartan Sports Radio will again broadcast the Tom Izzo Radio Show live from the event in their "Green Carpet Special". We will update this event as more details are announced.
Our 9th Annual Membership Tip-Off was held on Wednesday, November 1st in the Breslin Student Events Center. One of the Club's most popular events allowed the Club's new and returning members and their guests an up close look behind the scenes of MSU Men's Basketball.
Loyal Spartans this season will had an opportunity to watch practice, have a Spartan photo taken, tour the recently completed Breslin Center renovations including the new "Tom Izzo" Hall of History and hear from our Hall of Fame Coach. In addition, members and their guests were able to meet, take pictures of and get autographs from their favorite players including another great set of freshman. It was an exciting evening and a great tip-off to the upcoming season of MSU Basketball.
The Club's Board is already planning next season's event.
Our first luncheon of the 2017-18 season was held on Thursday, November 16th at Eagle Eye. Coach Izzo gave an update on the team as they return from the Duke game at the Championship Classic in Chicago and preview the upcoming PK80 Phil Knight Invitational in Portland. The luncheons are always a great time to socialize with fellow Spartans and attendance was well over 200.
Our second luncheon of the 2017-18 season was held on Thursday, December 7th at Hawk Hollow. Carlton Valentine, the father of Denzel and Drew Valentine, who also played at MSU from 1984-88 was our guest speaker. Carlton talked about the experience of both coaching in high school and being a father of a Division 1 player and took questions from the audience. Coach Izzo updated the club on the team and the recent 6 games in 13 days road trip, and how they will try to work on themselves to get better. The meeting as always was both a memorable luncheon and special holiday treat.
Our third luncheon of the 2017-18 season was held on Friday, January 5th at Eagle Eye. This was the luncheon leading up to the Annual Food Drive on Saturday, January 13th and our members contributed just under $2000. Our guest speaker was Jeff Miller, a former "Sparty". Coach Izzo updated everyone on the status of our players, what comes with being #1, and their upcoming trip to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes. As always this was an excellent opportunity to support our Men's Basketball program and socialize with fellow Spartans.
Lupe Izzo again led a team of volunteers at our annual Food Drive to benefit the MSU and Greater Lansing Food Banks on Saturday, January 13th as we took on the Michigan Wolverines. The Drive was record setting demonstrating the generosity of our fans and supporters of our community. The drive collected $34,508.54 in monies and an additional 586 food items, far surpassing the previous record of $18,039.69 set the prior year. Thanks to everyone that volunteered time and also those who donated money and food items.

Our fifth Rebounders Club Luncheon was held on Friday, February 9th at Eagle Eye Golf Club. This was the luncheon leading up to the Jud Heathcoat Tribute game with Purdue the following day. Coach led off the program and then turned the program over to his and Jud's long time friend and mentor, Purdue's legendary Coach Gene Keady. As anticipated Gene had the membership and Coach in stitches as he relived some of the great stories about the MSU - Purdue rivalry and his incredible relationship with Jud. Members in attendance will talk about this program for many years.
